Soda-Fired Sugar Jars

These small, wheel-thrown jars are designed for sugar, salt, spices, or anything you'd like to keep within easy reach. Each jar features a notched lid to accommodate a slender spoon or scoop—currently sold as-is, though hand-carved wooden scoops will be available soon.

Made from locally mined and mixed Northern California clay, each piece is finished with slips of foraged clay, crushed rock, and wood ash. Fired in a soda kiln with strong reduction (created by adding wood during firing and cooling), the jars develop naturally varied tones and textures—no two are alike, even if fired side by side.

The interiors are left unglazed for a tactile, slightly textured finish that is still water-tight and functional.
